Preposition	Use	Example
in	inside / enclosed	in the box, in the room, in Spain
on	surface / on top	on the table, on the wall, on the floor
at	specific point	at the bus stop, at school, at home

More Place Prepositions

Preposition	Meaning	Example
next to	beside	The bank is next to the school.
between	entre	The park is between the bank and the church.
behind	behind	The car is behind the house.
in front of	in front of	The tree is in front of the house.
under	below	The cat is under the table.
above/over	above	The clock is above the door.
near	nearly	The shop is near my house.

Prepositions of Time

in	months, years, seasons, parts of day	in March, in 2024, in summer, in the morning
on	days, dates	on Monday, on July 4th, on my birthday
at	times, specific moments	at 5 PM, at night, at Christmas, at the weekend

Common Exceptions

at night (NOT ~~in the night~~)
at the weekend (British) / on the weekend (American)
at noon / at midnight
