Want to, Like to, Need to

Want to (querer)

  • I want to travel. / She wants to learn English.
  • Neg: I don't want to go. / He doesn't want to eat.
  • Q: Do you want to play? / Does she want to come?

Like + verb-ing / Like + to + verb (gustar)

  • I like swimming. = I like to swim. (ambas correctas)
  • She likes reading. = She likes to read.
  • Neg: I don't like cooking. / He doesn't like running.
  • Q: Do you like dancing? / Does she like studying?

Need to (necesitar)

  • I need to study. / She needs to work.
  • Neg: You don't need to hurry. / He doesn't need to come.

Would like (more polite than want)

  • I**'d like** a coffee. = I would like a coffee.
  • I**'d like to** travel. = I would like to travel.
